Hardware and software requirements

The animations are saved as Flash files so if your PC doesn't already have a Flash player (nearly all do now), you can download a Flash player from the Adobe site here.

The tutorial screen is 960 x 720 pixels. For a perfect viewing experience, your monitors should really be set to this resolution or bigger. You can still view the tutorials on smaller 14" screens using an 800 x 600 resolution, for example, although you will need to scroll up and down and left and right - you won't be able to see the whole tutorial screen at the same time!! 17" and 19" screens set at their default resolutions will be fine.

You need some speakers or headphones for each PC. Speakers will drive you mad if you are in a class of pupils all using them at the same time. Cheap headphones are best e.g. about £1.40 from www.ballicom.co.uk
I encourage my students to use their own MP3 headphones if they have them! I've also delivered the animations as a class exercise on an interactive whiteboard. This works well if your pupils can sit still for 10 minute bursts!

Any 486X family of PCs with 128 Mb of RAM will work fine, although we recommend 256 Mb of RAM or more.

Almost all PCs bought in the last 4 years will be able to run this software.

You will also need to download the latest version of Audacity (version 1.3.2) from here. You'll need to get the MP3 encoder. Just follow the instructions here. It takes about 30 seconds to download and set-up Audacity!!
