What are the animated tutorials - how do they work?
With well over two hours of professionally produced animations, we aim to make teaching the latest version of Audacity (not the old version) as easy as possible for all teachers and as easy to learn as possible for all pupils. You put our high-quality, structured set of animations onto your Intranet. Pupils can then open up a menu of tutorials from any PC on your network with speakers or a set of headphones and away they go! They watch as we build a complete soundtrack from the very beginning, right in front of them. They see exactly what to do and how to do it. They see every click, menu selection, mouse movement and action taken by the sound producer on the screen. As they watch, they also hear a comprehensive explanation of what is happening.
What do pupils make?
This is not a set of unconnected 'how-to' lessons!! It's a structured set of tutorials thought through by an experienced Head of ICT and thoroughly tested and proven. Pupils will make a radio production of Macbeth, Act 1 Scene 1 - three witches on a wet and windy moor. They will make it atmospheric and haunting using the wide range of techniques and effects available in Audacity.
What courses will this set of animated lessons cover?
Pupils will obtain the knowledge and skills they need for modules of work in Unit 22 of the OCR Nationals course, the sound editing sections in Imedia and DiDA, as well as providing the building blocks for work in BTEC and Higher courses.
Key benefits:
| * |
We use the very latest version of Audacity in the tutorials, not the old version. And the software itself is totally FREE, both for the school and for your pupils at home. |
| * |
Non-ICT teachers can confidently teach sound editing because the expert sound producer is the one doing all the talking and demonstrating on-screen for them!
|
| * |
Pupils really can work at their own pace in class now. The faster ones can motor ahead without waiting for anyone else to catch up. Students who need to spend more time on a task or who want to watch a demonstration again can.
|
| * |
Totally accessible to pupils with poor reading skills. The tasks are about listening and watching. Because all pupils can access the lesson, there is less disruption and teachers have more time to help those in class who really need it.
|
| * |
Ideal for pupils with poor concentration skills. We have seen extraordinary output from pupils who aren't normally known for producing focused work. Our animations highly motivate students!
|
| * |
Because these animations are on your Intranet, it is quick and easy now to set cover lessons. It doesn't matter what the skill level of the cover teacher is!
|
| * |
Perfect for pupils who have missed lessons - they can catch up in their own time without you having to repeat lessons just for them!
|
| * |
Encourages pupils to take charge of their own learning. Show them how to get started using the animations in an IT club and then let them get on with it. |
| * |
Teachers can now learn Audacity for themselves! This is an ideal INSET opportunity! |
